Signal Processing Leads a Photographic and Imaging

چکیده

Photography and imaging have been radically transformed over the past couple of decades in ways that 19th-century pioneers such as Louis-JacquesMandé Daguerre (Figure 1) and Henry Fox Talbot could have scarcely imagined. Traditional photography and imaging, rooted in chemical processes, have now largely given way to digital methodologies and technologies. The result has been faster, less expensive, and more convenient ways of acquiring and presenting images, and in many cases the creation of clearer, more detailed, and less distorted pictures on many different types of media. Signal processing plays an important role in virtually all types of digital photography and imaging. In consumer, professional, industrial, and scientific still cameras, sophisticated integrated algorithms help determine how images are collected, interpreted, and stored. Algorithms, for example, ensure that captured raw sensor data are efficiently translated into color-corrected image data that can then be stored either in raw pixels or as compressed images. Image processing algorithms are also involved in image capture and compression, focus and exposure control, managing white balance, demosaicsing, image storage, preview display rendering and scaling, and various postprocessing tasks.

Using a photographic image processing method as a part of the QA program in some radiotherapy departments where CTs are involved with COVID-19 patients

Background & Aims: Owing to the significant role of CT images in diagnosis and follow up of patients affected with coronavirus, the imaging section of cancer centers in some countries engaged in providing services to COVID-19 patients. The aim of this study was to introduce a CT-independent photographic-based QA method in some radiotherapy departments where CTs are involved with COVID-19 patien...

The effect of inversion times on the minimum signal intensity of the contrast agent concentration using inversion recovery t1-weighted fast imaging sequence

Background :Inversion recovery (IR) pulse sequences can generate T1-weighted images with a different range of inversion time (TI) to suppress or null the signal intensity (SI) for a specified tissue. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of TI values on the concentration of the contrast agent, which leads to a minimum signal intensity, using an inversion recovery T1-weighted 3-dim...

Deblocking Joint Photographic Experts Group Compressed Images via Self-learning Sparse Representation

JPEG is one of the most widely used image compression method, but it causes annoying blocking artifacts at low bit-rates. Sparse representation is an efficient technique which can solve many inverse problems in image processing applications such as denoising and deblocking. In this paper, a post-processing method is proposed for reducing JPEG blocking effects via sparse representation. In this ...

The advantage of using a diode laser instead of a Q-switched laser in photoacoustic imaging of tissues

Photoacoustic (PA) imaging of biological tissues using laser diodes instead of conventional Q switched pulsed systems provides an attractive alternative for biomedical applications. However, the relatively low energy of laser diodes operating in the pulsed regime, results in generation of very weak acoustic waves, and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the detected signals. This problem can be ...

Repeatability of Detecting Visual Cortex Activity in Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction As functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is too expensive and time consuming, its frequent implementation is difficult. The aim of this study is to evaluate repeatability of detecting visual cortex activity in fMRI. Materials and Methods In this study, 15 normal volunteers (10 female, 5 male; Mean age±SD: 24.7±3.8 years) attended. Functional magnetic resonance images were ob...
